File - Change Case
This function will allow you to change the lower or upper
case of files and/or folders. When using the menu "File - Change Case..." a new
window will open. The options you now have are:
"Change by comparison"

This is always handy if you have two folders with the same
files in them. A typical use case is that it happens during copying files to a
CD-ROM all the files will be stored in upper case. When copying them back to a
harddrive this might be irritating. "Change by comparison" now compares the
marked files and folders and changes the case of the names according to the
source directory you select.
"Change by definition"

In this case you explicitly tell freeCommander how naming
shall be changed and how the changes shall be applied.
HOW
shall the case be changed: upper case / lower case
Here you can
choose between:
- all in lower case: all characters will be
in lower case (mytext.doc)
- all in upper case: all characters will be
in upper case (MYTEXT.DOC
- first letter upper: only the first
character will be in upper case (Mytext.doc)
- mixed: the first character of each word
in the filename will be upper case. A part of the name is considered a new
word if separated by a blank or a dot from the previous one ( Mytext.Doc; My Text.Doc)
WHAT
shall be changed: Change
Here you can choose from:
- Name and extension: the change will be
applied to the full name
(MEINTEST.DOC)
- Only name: the change will only be
applied to the name (MYTEXT.doc)
- Only extension: the change will only be
applied to the extension (mytext.DOC)
WHERE
the case shall be changed: Options
- File names: if you selected a folder only
its files will be affected by the change
- Directory names: if you selected a folder
only its directory names will be affected by the change
- With subdirectories: all the changes will
also be applied to content in the subdirectories. This option is only
selectable if the previous one was selected.
